About Crest Support Services
"A belief that everyone should have the opportunity
to live at the crest of life and never walk alone" brought the following individuals together, who formed the first Board of Directors: Ruth Bacon-Brough ~ Founder, Carolyn Garbett, Douglas Lines, Nelson Scheifele, Wilfred Schlegel, Janet Stewart, Kurt Wagner
Crest Support Services was incorporated on September 24, 1971.
When Ruth Bacon-Brough first founded Crest her vision was to create a setting in which those who chose to live here experienced closeness to nature, independence, opportunities to work, and a sense of family. Over time, these foundational goals haven't changed. Forty-five years later, we understand even more deeply how important it is for all of us to be connected to the environment, experience a sense of autonomy, know the dignity of work, and be an integral part of our community of family and friends.
Everyday at Crest, we focus on these important goals that all of us share. For our Board, Management and Direct Support Professionals our priority is to ensure that the highest quality of services are provided to those who access them.
Crest Support Services is unique in that it is funded by two ministries. Funding for people supported primarily because of development needs comes from the Ministry of Community and Social Services. Funding for people supported primarily because of mental health needs comes from the Ministry of Health and Long Term Care, through the South West Local Health Integration Network (SWLHIN).
